We’re looking for an organized and energetic Event Manager to ensure seamless execution of private events, open skate sessions, and special programs at our venue.

Are you passionate about crafting unforgettable experiences? Roller Skate Detroit is seeking a Part-Time Event Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of our events. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can handle everything from coordinating event logistics to managing staff. As the point of contact for clients, you’ll ensure that every event runs smoothly, creating exceptional experiences for our guests.

Role + Responsibilites


  • Event Planning & Coordination:
  • Collaborate with clients to plan events such as private parties, corporate events, and special programs.
  • Organize event details, including layout, schedule, staffing, equipment setup, and catering coordination.
  • Oversee the logistics of each event, ensuring everything runs efficiently from setup to breakdown.
  • Staff Supervision & Leadership:
  • Manage a diverse event support team, including DJs, front desk staff, skate rental employees, and demo instructors.
  • Delegate tasks, provide leadership, and ensure all team members are prepared and confident in their roles.
  • Resolve any issues promptly to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Client Relations:
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, maintaining clear communication and addressing any concerns or special requests.
  • Adapt to last-minute changes and adjustments to meet client needs.
  • Event Execution & Oversight:
  • Supervise the setup and teardown of events, ensuring that everything is organized and ready for each occasion.
  • Monitor the event’s progress and timeline, ensuring all aspects of the event meet the client’s expectations.
  • Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed during all events.
  • Post-Event Reporting:
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, gathering feedback from clients and staff to continuously improve event delivery.
  • Track expenses, manage administrative tasks, and provide insights on enhancing future events.

Knowledge/Skills + Abilities


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in event management, hospitality, or a similar field.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
  • Familiarity with entertainment or wellness venues is a plus.
